Alpine Midwifery seeks to provide the kind of care that every woman deserves:

Individuality of Care

The birth of a new child is an exciting and special time that deserves a special kind of attention.  Alpine Midwifery accompanies you in a partnership style of care that is personalized, loving, supportive and informative.  We invite open communication and your active participation, empowering you to make informed choices that will allow you to experience the pregnancy and birth that is right for you.

Extent of our Care Promise

Natural Birth

Our appointments with you are not rushed and we will allow ample time for all your questions.  Your partner and other children are invited to participate in whatever way that is right for you and your family.  Throughout our entire care relationship, we make ourselves available to you in whatever way is best: in person, via email, text or voice, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

We trust in the birth process, recognizing that it is a normal, natural, part of life.  We recognize that it is a powerful and deeply meaningful rite of passage for the mother giving birth, the new baby being born, and each member of their family.  We are trained and have many years of experience in identifying and managing situations that fall outside the normal ranges and we are quite adept at facilitating transfers into conventional medical care when it is indicated.

We offer home birth, water birth, comprehensive prenatal care provided at your home, nutritional counseling, homeopathic and herbal remedies, birthing classes, baby massage, breastfeeding assistance, normal newborn care, extensive postpartum care at home, VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) support, gynecological care like pap smear and family planning advice.  We are able to order any testing you may want including laboratory tests, prenatal screening and diagnosis, routine tests for the newborn, fetal non-stress tests and ultrasounds.

Sensitivity of Care

We acknowledge, sadly, that abuse, psychological, sexual and physical is an all too common event in our world. We also recognize that it can have far reaching impacts during pregnancy and birth.  We strive to work as sensitively as possible with every individual in our care and want to assure every one of absolute confidentiality.

We do not perform any unnecessary or routine vaginal exams.  Babies can be born without vaginal exams and we only perform them if information that can only be gathered during a vaginal exam is important to make further decisions for the care and wellbeing of both mother and baby.  Of course, we can do a vaginal exam at anytime, at the mother’s request.
